Furness Funeral Home has served the Clark, South Dakota area for over 75 years, serving Clark County, Eastern Spink County, Western Codington County, and Southern Day County, adding this site to serve you more completely. Keep in mind that the funeral is a meaningful event that can help ease the pain of separation which naturally accompanies death.

It is a time when respect, concern, and appreciation for the life that has been lived can be expressed in a sincere manner. The funeral is an experience of value and when properly planned can provide lasting satisfaction and comfort to survivors. It is with this thought in mind that we provide an avenue to friends and relatives who are not able to attend the funeral or visitation. When reviewing an obituary on our website, those in attendance are able to send e-mail greetings and condolences to the family. 

Furness Funeral Home is pleased to announce that Greg Furness, after nearly fifty years in funeral service, has retired from the day-to-day activities of the funeral home. Greg will still assist with services when he is available. Greg will continue his ownership for the next five years through a continued association with Pioneer Enterprises, Inc., an employee-owned affiliation of South Dakota and Wyoming funeral directors who promote local ownership and management.

Kelly Hyke joined the staff of Furness Funeral Home in September of 2023, becoming the Employee Owner / Manager, in October of 2023, and is looking forward to working in Clark and getting to know the people of Clark and the surrounding areas.  He will remain the Owner / Manager at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, splitting his time between the Clark and Redfield locations.

This transition will allow both Furness Funeral Home and  Hyke Funeral Home to continue offering their families the best possible service by sharing their current staff and on-call schedules.       

This merger will also allow them to hire a full-time preneed specialist to work between the two locations to serve our communities better.

 Kelsey Reif and Brenda Jenkins will continue to have an active role in the business and take care of all aspects of funeral service in Clark and also assist if needed in Redfield.
